ASPIRE Personal Development Programme

Our ASPIRE Programme nurtures each child’s unique potential through a holistic blend of health, self-growth, career exploration, citizenship, leadership, and the arts. It promotes healthy lifestyles, self-awareness, and creative expression while inspiring curiosity and a lifelong love of learning. By fostering leadership, responsibility, and confidence, ASPIRE develops well-rounded individuals ready to contribute meaningfully to society and pursue their passions with purpose.

Health

FDP supports students’ mental and physical well-being through diverse activities and programs. Healthy lifestyles are promoted via initiatives like Health Week, Walk to School Week, and encouragement of active travel. Sports and PE emphasise fitness, teamwork, and competition through house events, inter-school matches, and special experiences such as a BBC Olympic visit. Outdoor learning, residential trips, Bikeability, and swimming further enrich development, while playground equipment and the My Happy Mind program support active play and mental wellness. Clubs provide additional growth opportunities.

Self
We foster self-growth by developing pupils’ emotional, social, and cognitive skills to build positive personal qualities. Votes for Schools encourages student voice, while My Happy Mind and the Restorative Approach support well-being and conflict resolution. The Rights Respecting School framework and Regulation Station help pupils understand their rights and emotions. Through Forest School, PSHE, RE, trips, Talking Rules, Passports, assemblies, and debates, pupils strengthen communication, reflection, and self-expression.

Citizenship

FDP promotes active citizenship by embedding British Values and community engagement. Votes for Schools teaches democracy, while contributions to food banks and community events like the Summer Fair build social responsibility. As a Rights Respecting School, we host themed assemblies and welcome visits from PCSOs, councillors, and MPs. Trips to Parliament and partnerships with local churches and libraries strengthen pupils’ understanding of civic life and community values.

Leadership

FDP nurtures leadership through a range of roles and responsibilities. Pupils serve as Sports Leaders, Academy Council Representatives, Reading Ambassadors, and My Happy Mind Heroes, developing confidence and responsibility. Through the Rights Respecting Schools initiative, they advocate for themselves and others, while debates, performances, sports events, and Play Leader roles provide practical leadership and mentoring experience.

Arts

We inspire a love for the arts through diverse activities that build creativity, confidence, and collaboration. Dance and drama clubs, theatre visits, and workshops encourage artistic expression, while public speaking and debating strengthen communication and critical thinking. Music lessons, choir performances, and programs like My Happy Mind and Rocksteady nurture musical and emotional growth. Pupils also enjoy arts and crafts, performances, and exhibitions, enriched by initiatives such as Composer and Artist of the Month. Partnerships with Birmingham Arts School, along with library visits and author encounters, further foster a lifelong passion for the arts and literature.

Careers

We foster ambition and career readiness through a range of inspiring experiences. The RISE Project encourages future aspirations, while workplace visits and behind-the-scenes tours provide real-world insight. University trips, work experience portfolios, and Careers Week, with its interactive Careers Carousel, broaden pupils’ horizons. Role-play areas and enterprise events like school fairs develop business awareness, while Talking Rules and oracy lessons strengthen communication skills for future successes.
